We have been shooting weddings on Maui for over 14 years now. And we've shot in excess of 2,000 weddings and vow renewals. So we have a lot of experience and a lot of tricks.
Often couples will decide to forego photography and have a friend shoot it for them. I can't tell you how many times I've shuddered watching those friends try to take their pictures. Most have cameras that don't have flashes strong enough to counteract the sun in the background. If their camera can force the flash to fire, the sensors will see all of that light on the horizon and you'll end up with no light in your faces. I've even seen so-called "professional" photographers show up with these small in-camera flashes. You simply can't shoot the sunset with an in-camera flash.
Friends also don't know how to pose a couple or how to keep other people from creeping into the background behind you. And I can't tell you how many times I've heard those friends say, "Oh no, I'm sorry, my memory card is full." Or, "my battery is depleted." So sad, but it happens all the time. Because the couple tries to save a little money they can end up with no photos at all.
If you want photography that looks good, and which really shows off the sunset behind you, let us do it. You will be pleasantly surprised by the results we get.
