Special Ideas for a Great Vow Renewal

You want to give your spouse a great vow renewal. Here are some ideas that you might want to use.

First, make it a surprise. You do this simply by doing all of the planning ahead of time on your own. Some couples share all of their financial information and if your spouse sees the credit card charges they might become aware that something is going on. I've even known of spouses who had a mother or mother-in-law do their charges for them to keep the surprise.

Second, go someplace really special. If you do your vow renewal on a tropical vacation to someplace like Hawaii it will obviously have much more impact. But if the special place is just to a fantastic local restaurant which has a garden for the service, that would also work.

Third, get her to dress up without knowing why. Some spouses will tell their mate that they want to wear their newest dress out to the mall (or somewhere similar) and say "would you please dress up for me so I can wear my new dress?" Just make the reason for dressing up different for the actual renewal surprise.

Fourth, shape the evening. You want to plan what is going to happen like you are on a schedule because it will be important for the two of you to arrive on time for your special ceremony.

Fifth, get some wedding professionals to help you. A good wedding professional will also do vow renewals (as everything is the same except you won't be having a "legal" ceremony). If you're going to Hawaii I would recommend you contact Susan Craft who has booked hundreds of vow renewals on Maui. Check out her Maui Vow Renewal website here.

Sixth, hire a minister to do a romantic ceremony for the two of you. You want to get a personable minister who will give you a romantic ceremony. I think David Webster (and also his wife Shari) on Maui offer some great ceremonies. Here's one of his ceremonies on their website.

Seventh, invite some family members to arrive separately. If they show up right about the time the action begins to take place, it will be a special surprise and very impactful on your spouse.

Eighth, hire a photographer (and/or videographer) to record the moment. This makes everything so much more exciting and it also gives you both great memories to look back upon. Let me recommend on Maui a great wedding and vow renewal photographer.
